New Life Community Church concluded one day Winter Retreat on Jan 31th with abundant grace.
Below are members reflections. "Today through the retreat bible studies, we studied in the Book of Romans chapters 1-3. In chapter 1 we learned that man's original sin was godlessness. Every man was created in the image of God, the image of love, we were created with the knowledge of God in our being, to glorify and honor our Creator. But instead man became filled with self pride and turned to godlessness and to all kinds of wickedness. Although man knew the righteous decree and knowledge of God, because God has made it plain to them, man chose to worship created things instead of the Most High Creator. Because of their arrogance and foolishness God gave man over to the shameful and sinful desires of their hearts, to commit acts of homosexuality, adultery, idolatry or worship money, fame etc. Because of this the wrath of God is being revealed in such man who turn to godlessness and wickedness.
"In chapter 2 we learned about God's righteous judgment against all who practice godlessness. God shows no favoritism, He will judge both the Jews and the Gentiles. Those who claim to know the law do we pass judgment on other people? All man has sinned and has turned from God, In the book of Mathews we learned that we should take out the plank in our own eye before worrying about the speck of dust in our brother's eye, because we are not worthy to judge someone else while we ourselves still commit sins. Circumcision is more about the circumcision of the heart and less about the physical circumcision because God will judge what's in our hearts not our acts."
"In chapter 3 we learn about God's faithfulness. Man's lack of faith doesn't nullify God's faithfulness, God remains faithful even when we are not. It is stated that Jews and Gentiles are both alike and that no one is righteous in the eyes of God, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. There is no boasting in law because no man can keep it perfectly. Man should not just practice and seek the righteousness of the law, because the law only points to the fact that we are sinners and are in need of a Savior. The only righteousness that completes us is the righteousness from God that comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. We have been justified by God's grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the atonement for our sins and completes the law for us."
"This lesson taught me a lot because at times I would ask myself, "What is God's love like?" After studying Romans 1-3 I can now answer that question that God's love is Jesus Christ. God showed me that because he loved me he sent his only Son who knew no sins to die in my place so that I may be redeemed back to the God The Father and that I may live eternal life and not perish. By keeping my eyes fixed on Jesus every day I can experience the love God has for me. Thanks be to God!"
Thanks be to God for his grace! Hope God can continue lead New Life members to know the truth more!
